At the end of the ART Network class

This class was full of interesting and valuable learning moments. Initially I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this class, as it is the first 6 hour class I've ever taken, but I thoroughly enjoyed the course from start to finish. The projects were fun and engaging, and gave us a lot of creative freedom to produce a project both professionally, and to a degree in which we had a vision for. I really liked the collaborative nature of the class, each collaboration had its own challenges to overcome and learn from. Some of those challenges came from communication with teammates, some of the challenges came from technical roadblocks, but no matter what they were, we were all able to overcome them. Ina addition, I found our instructor Lisa to be fantastic. The class would not be the same without her. She provided the material clearly and in a way that excited us for the projects. She also was very good about helping out, especially if a student was struggling.

All in all, I though this class was wonderful, and I'll highly recommend it to my fellow students.

Ozark's Opening Scene

This is the opening scene from the Netflix original series Ozark.  When I saw this show come up in my "recommended" feed, I thought I'd give it a shot. And from this opening scene, I was hooked. Everything about this scene provides just enough information, to keep you interested, and withholds just enough information to keep you curious for more. The dialogue about money, over the scene of him doing dubious actions with money, raises a lot of questions. His words tell us he's very smart with money, that he understands the importance of it, however his actions reveal an unknown, but probably dishonest or dangerous circumstance involving money. The shot progression is very interesting too. It gives us very limited information, but suggests that his actions are probably illegal (i.e. lots of cash hidden inside coolers, traveling across a lake at night, doing a lot in the dark) and here and there, we're given tidbits into who this man is (i.e. the stick family ...

Mini Documentary (From Start to Finish)

For our final project, our class split into two groups. The first group worked on a music video, the second group (of which I was a part of) worked on a mini documentary. The theme of our project was "Familiar Faces of Ringling College". So we connected with many members of the staff of whom many people have seen, but few had spoken to, and asked to meet up for an interview with them. The subject of my segment was Andres Paz, the ART Network Production Specialist. He's often seen documenting the larger events around campus for the ART Network. The interview I conducted with him was very insightful, among many things, I asked him questions about his job, his background, his life as a student at Ringling. I really enjoyed getting to know Andres through this discussion, his answers were always detailed and interesting, which made both the interview and editing very enjoyable.
