Ozark's Opening Scene

Image
This is the opening scene from the Netflix original series Ozark.  When I saw this show come up in my "recommended" feed, I thought I'd give it a shot. And from this opening scene, I was hooked. Everything about this scene provides just enough information, to keep you interested, and withholds just enough information to keep you curious for more. The dialogue about money, over the scene of him doing dubious actions with money, raises a lot of questions. The shot progression is very interesting too. Why ART Network?

I chose to take this elective when Ed Cheetham, the head of my department came into one of my classes and told us about this class. He stated that it used to be a part of the major I'm a part of, and that it teaches the fundamentals of many valuable skills such as, editing, broadcasting, branding, production, and many other interesting subjects. I have a background in filmmaking, and would like to improve my skills as an editor. I want to learn new, and different ways of telling a story through editing methods that aren't necessarily conventional. And as a designer, I'm also very interested in the branding aspects of this course. I'd like to learn how to better work within a specific, predetermined style, and understand how to reinforce established ideas through visual means within the Art Network brand. I look forward to progressing in this class, and I hope to learn a lot.
